Getting Connected! 2011 – 2012
“Getting Connected!” is a special Year 11 programme organised by Holy Family Parish. You are invited to take on a new challenge each term. A certificate will be awarded at the end and there will be a special treat.
Where is it?
No 65, Somerton Road
When?
3:35pm – 5pm
Each term we will have a different project to focus on.
‘To build your life on Christ, to accept the Word with joy and put its teachings into practice: this, young people of the Third Millennium, should be your programme! There is an urgent need for the emergence of a new generation of apostles anchored firmly in the Word of Christ, capable of responding to the challenges of our times and prepared to spread the Gospel far and wide.It is this that the Lord asks of you, it is to this that the Church invites you, and it is this that the world – even though it may not be aware of it – expects of you!
(Pope Benedict XVI)
Theme of World Youth Day, 2008 ~ ‘You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses’. (Acts 1:8)

Children’s Liturgy
The Children’s Liturgy is celebrated during 10.30am Mass in St. Thérèse Church and 11.00am Mass in Holy Family Church. The Year 4 – 7 children join the leaders for their very own Liturgy of the Word. The Sunday Gospel is read to them, the children have time to talk about the meaning of the Gospel story and how they can live the message of the story during the week ahead. They also do a colouring page and other Gospel based activities. In short – faith, fun and friendship! Have you noticed their smiles, excitement and enthusiasm? If you are 18+ years of age and would like to become a leader, please contact the Parish Office – full training will be given.
Altar Servers
If you are in Year 5, 6 or 7 and would like to become an Altar Server, contact the Parish Office, or have a chat with your teacher or one of the Priests. Before new Altar Servers start their duties they will be trained and it is hoped that they will make the commitment to serve for at least one year.
